How To Download And Save Images On A Chromebook

You can easily download and save images on your chromebook but it’s a bit different than what you may be used to on your older computer.

There are two different ways you can download images on your chromebook:

  1. Hover over the image you want to save and then tap on the touchpad with two fingers. This will open up a menu, select the Save Image As option.
  2. Or you can hover over the image you want, press down the alt button, and using a single finger tap on the touchpad. This will bring up a menu, select the Save Image As option.

The image will then be stored wherever you want to put it. Usually in just the default downloads folder.

  1. Something new users of Chromebook should also know is they have 2 places to save pictures and files. The default I believe is in your Google Drive which is in the cloud, so you can not access these offline. Second you have the option to save it in your downloads folder, which saves to your physical device and is available offline. This seemed odd to me, I think of “drive” as in hard drive, so it took me a while to figure it out. Chromebook wasn’t designed to hold a lot of memory but so far I haven’t been told my downloads folder is too full. Hope this helps.

  2. I am thinking of buying a Chromebook to download pictures from a DSLR camera to be able to manipulate (crop and enhance) photos and then display on the screen. Files could be between 8Mb and 10 Mb large and up to 50 photos per batch. Is a Chromebook good for this???

  3. I have try to hold the Power button for one minute and it as some Light on the key board and the bottum screen and it die.

  4. Sooo I did indeed do these things but the weird thing is when I go to set my wallpaper on my school chromebook it just school information and stuff I have downloaded for school nothing else is working :/
